Found this place by accident on a recent trip to FL. Drove past the place I planned to visit and spotted this one because of the groovy signage. The guy at the counter is a wealth of knowledge. I could have stayed longer just chatting him up. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll check them out for sure. Great selection, solid customer service, priced to sell.

I don't understand how this place charges. I bought items that the total should've only came out to $16 total, and was somehow charged $28????? It makes ZERO sense. And of course they don't give you a receipt. I read all of the price tags so what the heck did the extra $12 go towards? I don't understand. Really wish I could get a refund for that as we are all out here struggling financially and I can't afford $12 to just disappear like that. Can someone explain why they overcharge?

Asylum is a place like no other! I grew up nearby the location located on Central Ave. When I was a teenager, I would ride my bike here to purchase CDs, Posters, Stickers and my favorite inscence. Much like it was when i was younger Asylum is a great, privately owned Smoke and Record shop reminiscent of something out of the 1960s /70s. It's not a huge store but the variety is endless! They have things like: music memorabilia, collectables & signage, obscure vinyl records, tye-dye clothing, "band" screen-printed tshirts, urinary system cleaning products, candles, glass water pipes, vape pens, agnets & postcards, bumper stickers, inscence, Pyrex smoking accessories, Medical Marijuana storage, preparation tools and accessories for tobacco and Marijuana flower/Dab smoking, and other novelty and gift ideas. The amount of vape pens products and accessories is vast and fairly priced for both disposable and rechargeable options.
The store is extremely well organized for its size and product capacity. The staff were very polite, and was available for any questions I had. They were very knowledgeable about the products and their individual prices. My favorite part of this store are several tall, lit cases which display the original glass pieces made by featured local glass artists, and all available for purchase. This place will definitely meet the needs of a "Smoke Shop" but is certainly worth a trip to see, if you need a gift idea or eclectic visit away from home. I believe there are 2 locations.

This is the first smoke shop I visit in St. Petersburg. I was going to go pick some stuff up for my friend but I got lost in between the decoration and the atmosphere of the place.
I happened to feel a little awkward because of the cashiers and rushed to go out, but I think this place will also be my to go place whenever I’m in need of certain goodies.
I love the pricing, the several different options they have and how large and cool this store looks to the eye even though the outside, or “street view”, isn’t as charming.
Next time I visit i’ll take my time to explore and share some more pictures. Maybe a video.
