First dispensary Iโve been to in Hawaii. Been going about half a year, and have only recently checked out the competition. Something that throws me off with any of these establishments is that Sativa and Indica are not reliable metrics for describing effects (in my opinion). However, these are the words used to describe the products and it seems to be the national standard unfortunately. Not a super big deal but I wish the effects were more clear. I suspect a good portion of patients have in fact grown cannabis, and these patients/customers are attracted to certain products more than others. For this reason I was impressed to learn that the products the competition offers are actually sun-grown, not grown indoors under lights. Frankly I expected BIG to be sun grown, given the name. With this being said, I absolutely love Big Island Grownโs recycling and points program. Offering points for recycling as well as a double points day, they make coming back into the shop rewarding. They have cool merchandise and events. I believe certain dispensaries work better for different people. BIG products make a good first impression visually, as well as on the nose. They have a more prominent social media presence and offer incentives for returning. The competition impresses me with their growing methods and really chill vibe. The one thing about BIG is that the lobby (at least in the Hilo location) seats quite a bit of people. I believe some patients do not want to be recognized in a dispensary due to their jobs or social circles. Cannabis use is slowly gaining acceptance, but weโre not quite there yet. I will definitely return to Big Island Grown, AND I will definitely return to their competition. Try out BIG and see what works for you.
