CBD American Shaman of Houston Heights

I placed an order with this shop because my local one is usually out of stock of my favorite delta flower. Everyone I dealt with was very helpful so it was an excellent customer service experience! My product was packaged nicely and was received in a timely manner! I will definitely be a repeat customer!

Everything here was great except one of the products I got. The tinctures, awesome and effective. The nano colloidal formula is extremely fast to act. We both tried a sample offered by the very helpful clerk and I felt its effects within minutes. She also showed us many of the different products and explained their nuances in depth- I was very satisfied with the level of service offered here.

I’ve been itching to try CBD/CBG in flower form for a while for a number of reasons. First, I like the more instantaneous effects of inhaled medicine and imagined CBD/CBG working this way as well. Second, I wanted to see what kind of flower quality is being offered for those of us who enjoy smoking great flower. Unfortunately, this is where the greatest disappointment of our visit to American Shaman came from.

I should have known better: the clerk let me inspect all of the herb before purchase. I could tell it was overly dried and poorly cured, but sometimes you can still get some terpenes locked inside the buds that comes out after grinding. Besides that, I could still experience the effects, but perhaps with a diminished overall experience due to poor dry/cure. To that end, the flower was good: the effects were at first calming, then relaxing, then sedating. No complaints there.

However, the quality of the flower itself, is extremely low. After grinding, I found tiny aborted seed material, which in and of itself isn’t something I’d find unappealing if the flower itself wasn’t bone dry and basically powder. After all, this is grown outdoors in Kansas. This was over $30 for an 8th. Even after grinding, this flower still smelled mostly like hay, with a tiny hint of a creamy aroma. I had to continually relight the material. It had no stickiness, very little resin, and nearly devoid of terpenes. I don’t think I’d even call this mids in terms of overall experience.

I’m giving a four overall as my experience in the store was extremely pleasant. The employee was friendly and helpful and very patient with our questions. It didn’t feel like a head-shop (no knock on head-shops, sometimes you just want a different shopping experience). There was a large selections of edibles and tinctures and the tincture I sampled acted fast and lasted well into the evening. However, the flower I purchased was really not worth it. Yes, it “did the job”, but the reason people enjoy flower isn’t purely about effects. There’s an experience that comes from enjoying good flower, that’s well grown and precisely dried and cured and preserved. I didn’t get to enjoy any of that experience and at this point I’m dreading having to finish that flower. I wish I had purchased the tincture instead. If I’m just getting to enjoy the effects anyways, what’s the point of smoking it? If it smells like hay, is a chore to keep lit because it’s improperly dried/cured&preserved, and has small chunks of aborted seeds in it, why would anyone choose that twice? I wouldn’t have chosen it once if I had known and trusted my gut I was making a mistake.

But maybe that’s what the samples are for: get you relaxed and a bit more willing to open the wallet on a risky purchase. Bud is always a risk. Even in a legal state, flower varies from producer to producer. This is no different. Hopefully this rambling helps someone, if you just scrolled down:

DONT BUY THEIR FLOWER IT IS BAD QUALITY BOTTOM SHELF BUD THAT HAS CHUNKS OF SMALL ABORTED SEEDS, IS POORLY DRIED AND CURED AND MUST BE RELIT OVER AND OVER, AND SMELLS LIKE HAY. THE STORE IS STILL GOOD AND WORTH VISITING, OTHER PRODUCTS ARE GOOD AND STAFF ARE GREAT!
